Producers: Baron Philippe de Rothschild
It all began in 1853, when Baron Nathaniel Philippe de Rothschild acquired Château Brane-Mouton and the estate that belongs to it. The renaming of the winery to Mouton-Rothschild was followed by a development that was not thought possible. In 1922, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, who now gives the estate its name, took over the estate and laid the foundations for a true wine empire. The baron invested a lot of heart and soul and money in the modernization and the associated expansion of the winery. Even back then, wines of outstanding quality were created, which were characterised by a remarkable innovative power. Even the still valid quality criterion "mis en bouteille au château" (bottled in the château) goes back to the Rothschild dynasty.
