Producers: Cosimo Varvaglione
The winery Varvaglione 1921 is located in Apulia in the heart of Magna Grecia. It is a region with the best conditions for viticulture and with over 2500 years old viticulture tradition which the Greeks once introduced. Thanks to the Ionian winds coming from the Gulf of Taranto, the grapes can tolerate a cool breeze after hot summer days. This is the Salento region - or as the locals call it - the land that is kissed by sun, wind and sea. Varvaglione 1921 has been working in the wine business for almost 100 years, and thanks to continuous progress and innovation, the winery has climbed the pinnacle of Apulia's wine scene. The focus of the winery has clearly dedicated to the Primitivo grape variety. But also the native indigenous grape varieties such as Negroamaro, Malvasia, Aglianico, Verdeca and Falanghina are pressed on the winery.
Over time, the technology of wine-making has blended harmoniously with the ancient wine traditions of the Salentine region. Varvaglione 1921 uses it and with its experience and tradition, wines are highly valued today in the domestic as well as on the international market.
