Producers: Louis Roederer
The champagne house, founded in 1776, was inherited in 1833 by Louis Roederer. As an entrepreneur with high aesthetic standards, the heir is planning to expand the growing area in order to be able to control all stages of the wine production from then on, contrary to the traditional practices. So he laid the foundation for the unique style, spirit and taste, which found the named after him champagne house until today. In 1850 the first 100 hectares were acquired. Today, our winery covers 240 hectares in the best producing areas of Champagne, the Grands and Premiers Crus of the Reimse mountains, the Côte de Blancs and the Marne valley. Each parcel was carefully selected. As a guarantor of a tradition of the century, our winemakers know how to achieve the full ripeness of the grapes while preserving the soil and biodiversity. The principles of biodynamic cultivation are gaining ground and providing new flavors. The targeted purchase of selected parcels in order to produce certain wine characteristics was now part of the company policy. Even today, this strategy is an integral part of the further development of our company.
