Intense ruby red with a light violet hue. The characteristically herbal nose of the Merlot grape also reveals clear notes of ripe fruit. On the palate, it is straightforward, full-fleshed and emphatically vinous, leaving it surprisingly persistent.
The must ferments temperature-controlled in stainless steel tanks. The maceration lasts about ten days to obtain a well-structured but not too heavy wine. A third of the wine matures in two- and three-year-old barriques. Before bottling, the wine is blended with the wine aged in steel tanks.
Guido Brivio is an oenologist with a solid French and American professional training behind him. Motivated by a long-standing family tradition in the wine trade, at the end of the 1980s he had the opportunity to buy an old wine cellar that had long been based on the production of Ticino wines. Considerable investments were made to convert the cellars, which are hewn out of the rock of Monte Generoso near Mendrisio. These cellars have an optimal natural climate for the preservation and storage of wines. This is thanks to the presence of vents with fresh natural air. These have formed under the masses of old landslides and a fresh breeze blows throughout the year at a temperature of 10-12°C.
