20 months in wooden barrels
Today we bow to a legend. Bruno Giacosa was a beacon of Italian wine culture. An engine, an innovator, a tireless one, a role model for so many and yet unrivalled. He entered the wine business at the tender age of 15. Like his father and grandfather before him, he traded in grapes as a "commerciante". But his destiny was to make wine. Together with Angelo Gaja, he showed the world in the 1960s how bewitchingly noble and elegant Barbaresco can be. In 1964, he bottled the first single-vineyard Barolo.
He didn't care about fashions; in everything he did, he always had his own mind. His top wines were only available in peak years, and that was that. And barrique barrels never entered his cellar. At the beginning of 2018, the old master passed away. His daughter Bruna continues the family legacy. With gratitude, we look back on over 30 years of partnership.
