Vinification / aging

The grapes are harvested by hand and immediately pressed as whole grapes on a pneumatic press. The cloudy must ferments completely in small wooden barrels. Spontaneous fermentation. There, after malolactic fermentation, the wines remain on the lees for over 1 year - without moving, without batonnage (stirring of the lees). After that, the assemblage of the different barrels is completed, lightly sulphured and the wines are returned to the barrel again. Between 18 and 22 months Antoine Jobard's wines mature before the unfiltered bottling. Extreme minerality, superb finesse, race and storability are probably the main characteristics. Anyone who has ever searched in vain knows that Antoine Jobard's wines are ultra-rare; he is certainly one of the very best, almost mythical producers in Meursault.

History

The domaine is located in the village of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune. The 6 hectare domaine is run by François and his son Antoine. They produce different Meursault from Village and 1er Cru sites. The top sites are Porusots 1er Cru and Genevrières. The vines are 20-25 years old. Since Antoine joined the Domaine, the wines have gained even more elegance and depth. Natural cultivation of the vineyards and manual harvesting are one of the factors for their high quality. The wines of the domaine have a very great storage potential, so they should not be drunk too young.
