Silky, red berries, delicate, yet full of race and elegance. Great balance between red fruits, cassis, wood notes and dried flowers. Fine tannins and a mild acidity that gently supports the mineral-rich body. Changes constantly in the glass. A little Pinot adventure for fair money.

History

Maxime Cheurlin belongs to the sixth generation of the Noëllat winemaking family. The great-grandfather Georges Noëllat gave his name to the domain. After his death in 1982, his wife Augustine Noëllat, called Marcelle, took over the management of the estate until 1986. Their daughter Marie Thérèse Noëllat married Jacques Cheurlin, a winemaker in Celle sur Ource in Champagne. He took over the management of the Vosne-Romanée estate from 1986 to 1990. After her divorce in 1991, Marie Thérèse Noëllat returned to Burgundy and succeeded her husband until 2009. Their marriage produced two children, Francis and Patrice Cheurlin. Francis Cheurlin, his father, built up a new winery in Champagne. Maxime himself was more interested in the production of wines and especially in Burgundy wines and so he took over the Vosne-Romanée estate in 2010. The vineyards have belonged to the family since the end of the 19th century. For the vinification of all wines, except the Grand Cru "Les Échezeaux", which requires almost 30% of the complete harvest to produce, the berries are completely destemmed. The wine is then put into barrels. The proportion of new barrels is between 30% and 100%, depending on the appellation. Depending on the type of wine, these barrels are subjected to different toasting processes (roasting of the barrels over a fire). The wines mature for 15 months in barrels and then 3 months in wine tanks before being bottled. In this way they can mature in peace and do not need to be filtered before bottling.
