Dark ruby red, delicious aromas of ripe fruits like plums, cherries and spices. Full-bodied with firm but fine tannins. A very pleasant and typical Tuscan with good structure and high enjoyment.

Vinification / aging

Temperature-controlled fermentation at 20°C for seven to eight days in stainless steel tanks. Then the wine matures for 12 months in French oak.

History

The Tenuta Il Palagio Winery is located in the picturesque Tuscan countryside near Figline Valdarno, about 40 minutes south of Florence. The remarkable property from the 16th

Century is the private residence of Sting and his wife Trudie Styler. Today's owners are keen to continue the long tradition of viticulture, since wine has been produced here since the middle of the 15th century. With the acquisition in the year 1997 extensive renovation work and the enlargement of the property on 350 hectares were carried out, a large part of it is wooded. Today, the winery employs local people, produces fruits and vegetables for the surrounding villages, sells organic honey, olive oil and their world-class wines in the European and American markets. Responsible for the wines is Paolo Caciorgna, for the Daniel O'Donnell vineyards. Since 2000 is set on biodynamic cultivation. Trudie and Sting have been working for humanitarian projects for some time, Trudie is even UNICEF Amassadorin. Therefore, part of the proceeds from the products of Il Palagio will also be donated to charities.
