Sela is a wine with strength, freshness and fruit complexity. A very attractive wine for young people who want to experience the passion of the wine world.
Bodegas Roda sets new standards in innovation and uncompromisingness in Spain's young wine revolution. The foundation for the extra class is formed by 40ha of minutely selected vineyards on the most privileged terroir in the heart of the Rioja Haro. The vines are up to 70 years old. The winery was founded at the end of the 1980s by the Rotllant-Daurella family, with the aim of assisting with the changes in Spanish viticulture from the very beginning and at the highest level. After intensive studies, the ideal basis for this project was found in the region of Haro in the Rioja Alta. The winery today comprises 40 hectares, spread over 3 different layers, which were selected very carefully. (In the immediate vicinity of such noble neighbors as López Heredia, La Rioja Alta, Muga, Cune) Plots were exchanged, merged, the soil minutely examined, the course of rainwater controlled. Planted are the traditional grape varieties of Rioja: 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Garnacha. The vines are at least 30 years old. A state-of-the-art cellar, built deep into the ground during day-mining, is also part of the winery. It is harvested in small boxes to transport the grapes as gently as possible to the winery. For (temperature-controlled) fermentation large oak barrels are used. The wines are matured in French oak barrels (and not, as in Rioja, often American).
