The production of wine took place only in 1986, when David experimented with some barrels of Cabernet from Madrona Ranch. He never released his first year. He'd always heard the first year break like a bomb or break, and the '86 was just not good enough. Thus, the 1987 vintage was the first Abreu wine, David published. "I gave away the bottles in restaurants in the valley and told them to drink it with their staff. If you like it, call me. " That's how it all started. A keen observer. David had the opportunity to learn from some of the best winemakers who understood how he does it, that it is about the vineyards, the soil and the vines. As for viticulture, he got a lot of advice, listened to everything and then went his own way. He began to make wine as he thought it must be done. Some people shook their heads. But it's the same approach as in the vineyard. He just does it after gut feeling. He has been doing it for 30 years now.
