Producers: Château Trotte Vieille

The estate is located in Saint-Émilion in the same area (Bordeaux). It is one of the oldest properties in this area, the first mention of a wine production dates back to 1453. The original name is said to derive from an old lady who was once said to have gone for a walk in the neighborhood at that time. to hear about the news (La Trotte Vieille = walk old woman). The estate was acquired in 1949 by Marcel Borie (1892-1958), the then head of Borie-Manoux (see the family history there in detail). In 2012, the 3.5 hectares of vineyards of Château Bergat, also owned by Borie-Manoux, were incorporated. The extended operation was confirmed in 2012 as "Premier Grand Cru Classé B". The vineyards now cover a total of 13.5 hectares and are planted with the varieties Merlot (55%), Cabernet Franc (40%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). Some rows of vines are over 100, some vines even 150 years old. The long-living red wine matures between 12 and 18 months in up to 100% new oak barrels. The second wine is called "La Vieille Dame de Trotte Vieille".
