Deep ruby red, typical aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and roasted aromas fill the nose. Harmonious drinking flow, silky tannins, ripe multi-layered fruit and the perfect acidity guarantee great potential.
The selected grape material is subjected to a manual maceration of a cool mash period. Subsequently, the fermentation begins by its own natural yeasts. After gentle pressing, the wine matures for 18 months in 56% new barrels (three-year, air-dried French and American). Then the wine is stored in big oak barrels for another 18 months before it is bottled unfiltered.
David Ramey earned his spurs in some world-famous establishments before he founded his own winery in Healdsburg / Sonoma County in 1996. For example, Château Pétrus and Dominus are among his reference list. He marries the methods of the old world with innovation from the New World and thereby creates wines that are characterized by an incredible balance and longevity.
Aus der Apellation Napa Valley stammen die Trauben von den Lagen St.Helena (30%), Napa Valley (29%), Oak Knoll (15%), Napa-Carneros (12%), Mt. Veeder (6%), Diamond Mountain (5%) und Oakville (3%).
