The finesse and aroma of this wine is already noticeable in his youth. It shows notes of canned cherries and some vanilla. On the palate, it shows enamel and many dark fruits, which are carried by fine, well-integrated tannins.
Jean-Philippe Janoueix takes great care of his vineyards, only healthy grapes are harvested and fermented, then matured for nine months in half in French and half in American oak barrels, a mixture that is rarely found on the right bank of Bordeaux.
Château Le Conseiller belongs since 1997 to the family of Jean-Philippe Janoueix. The beautiful estate with its 19th century art-view is a little jewel in Bordeaux to discover. The Château, together with the Château Croix-Mouton, also owned by the Janoueix family, is located in the Appellation Bordeaux Supérieur on the right bank of the Dordogne. In addition, Jean-Philippe Janoueix also takes care of Château la Confession at Saint-Emilion, La Croix-Saint-Georges in Pomerol and also produces a wine called "20 Mille". The average of 40 years old vines cover 27 hectares on a very good quality terroir, which is characterized by clay and loamy soils. But there are also some vintages, which are made from 100% Merlot grapes. Year after year, the passionate work of Jean-Philippe Janoueix leads to excellent grape qualities, thus laying the foundation for the property being one of the most recognized Bordeaux Supérieur. And even as a companion of mushrooms or Chinese dishes, Château Le Conseiller suits very well. The wine is an excellent example of how Bordeaux, away from the expensive Prestige wines, delivers outstanding quality wines with moderate prices.
